After devoting many years to leading the NSF's geosciences program, Robert Corell is leaving the Federal government at the end of 1999. Corell has been chair of the interagency Subcommittee on Global Change Research that has responsibility for the US Global Change Research Program.  In this role, he has helped to nurture and oversee the many activities making up the National Assessment.  Corell will begin two new appointments starting January 3, 2000. First, an appointment as a Senior Fellow in the American Meteorological Society's new Atmospheric Policy Program and, second, an appointment as a Senior Research Fellow at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government and its Center for Science and International Affairs.  He will be working on a planning effort designed to set the stage for the next decade in global/connected environmental research, including addressing the all important science/public policy interface.
