North America is currently a net carbon source (1,336 ± 334 MtC yr-1). A net terrestrial sink of 520 ± 260 MtC yr-1 is equivalent to about 30% of fossil fuel emissions in 2003. Credit: CCSP Synthesis and Assessment Product 2.2.
