| Figure 8b: Arctic sea ice cover, 2003. Between 1979 (Figure 8a) and 2003, Arctic perennial sea ice has been decreasing at a rate of 9% per decade. The image below shows the minimum sea ice concentration for the year 1979, and the image in Figure 8b shows the minimum sea ice concentration in 2003.
